The Ohio Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers ( ITE ) began in 1955.ITE, founded in 1930, is an international professional society of more than 12,000 transportation engineers and planners in over 70 countries. These transportation professionals are responsible for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods on streets, highways and transit systems.
The purpose of the Institute is to enable engineers and traffic/transportation professionals to contribute individually and collectively toward meeting human needs for mobility and safety; and promote the professional development of its members by encouraging education, stimulating research, developing public awareness, exchanging professional information and maintaining a central point of reference and action.
The Ohio Section is composed of over 300 members representing federal, state and local governments, consulting agencies, commercial affiliates, professors, and students. Members meet to discuss papers and technical issues, foster closer associations with fellow members, and to consider local transportation and traffic engineering problems and potential solutions.
We strongly encourage you to actively participate in the activities of the Ohio Section ITE. Please contact a Executive Board member or a committee chairperson at your earliest convenience.
